I'm an Encaustic Artist devoted to exploring the landscape, sometimes in a more abstract way. I strive to create a calm and serene atmosphere through color and light. Working with molten beeswax, and oil paint, I craft soft, inviting work that begs to be examined more closely.
Each layer of an encaustic painting is a visual record of my process, a natural and sometimes involuntary series of changes of how I achieve a particular end. This process is sometimes subject to forces beyond my control, and the effects can surprise even me.
The ability of encaustics to illuminate and obscure, creates mystery and depth. I enjoy being able to pause, linger and reflect in these layers before I have to get back to “the Art of living.”
